Worst day of the year for me so far. The only pick I think was acceptable was the Russell pick. Seriously you can’t pick Matt Harvey with the 112 pick, pretty unexcusable. Could have had Will Middlebrocks in the 5th. omg. The list pretty much goes on and on.

All I know is the Cards better at least take the hometown kid tomorrow in Tepesch. No idea how he didn’t get drafted. Also Greg Peavey, Jack McGeary, Tanner Robles, and Cole St. Clair are still on the board. If we don’t get all 5 of these guys tomorrow this draft in a loss to me. (Which means this is a loss.)

I am tired of cheap ownership. That is the only way to describe them. If we could not sign Porcello how can the Tigers ??

I was on board with selecting Kozma although I wish Ahearns or Heyward would have fallen to 18. Kozma, from what I have seen and read about him, reminds me of a Jay Bell type player (Good–not great).

Mortenson, on the other hand, was inexcusable. What a feeling to see a player who didn’t even merit getting picked last year getting picked by the Cards at #36. Do they understand what the draft is about??????

Finally, not selecting Harvey in the third round was STUPID. Pretend that you are trying! I understand the draft rules correctly, at least they would get a pick at the end of the third round if they don’t sign him. I think the Cardinals owners are great but this smacks of “cheap” all the way through.

no question it should have been Porcello (or even someone else) in that spot. besides, i’m really of the mind that we can always grab an SS via trade or FA, especially with trading depth. it’s worked out pretty well for us in the past…

I posted this at VEB…but this is what this last pick reminds me of…sub Bill DeWitt for Rachel Phelps and sub us for the board members.

Board Member 1: I’ve never heard of half of these guys and the ones I do know are way past their prime.

Charlie Donovan: Most of these guys never had a prime.

Board Member 2: This guy here is dead.

Rachel Phelps: Cross him off then.

Ryan Vb — he probably does as Greene still hasn’t translated his tools but Porcello would have instantly been our #2 pitching prospect behind Garcia and I’m giving the edge to Garcia because he’s at AA. In terms of ceiling Porcello wins.

Again, BA has this guy going in the third round. I thought Jeff was smart. Why are you talking people you can get with less valuable picks? This stink of being cheap…just like everything else for the past couple years. I don’t understand.

without looking too much into mortenson, this is a crap pick. the guy posted a 3.92 ERA in a an extreme pitchers park. i’m baffled. and angry.
