Notably absent of course would be Kozma, Russell, Todd, Kopp, Descalso, Zawacki, Reifer, Stutes and Henley. Stutes and Henley are in the College World Series, so they probably got other things on their minds. I wonder if Russell will play in a collegiate summer league while they negiotiate, hopefully it won’t get drug out that far…
Guys they’ve signed I’m especially happy about: High school pitcher Deryk Hooker, toolsy HS OF Joseph Hage (click here to read his profile at PG), Slugging Sam F Austin 1st baseman Hill, who was a junior, Rigoberto Lugo, who was a high school pitcher from the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy, signed to pitch for East Carolina U. Per what would’ve been his college coach Rick Godwin-
“We are excited about the signing Rigoberto Lugo,” said Godwin. “He is a power throwing right-handed pitcher with a hard, late breaking ball that has also been clocked at 92 mph. Lugo is a tremendous athlete who has also shown the ability to play in the outfield and will be a great fit for our program.”
Hat tip to Goold for the link. Mortenson, a senior had no where else to go so that was a slam dunk. After hearing the Lunow and some of the BA guys talk him up, I’m looking forward to seeing what he does.

The only ones that I really cared about on that list:
Hooker
Riportella
Hage
Lugo
Guys I hope to god(other than the first 10 round guys) get signed, and soon:
Zawacki
Blazek
Dalles
King
R. Russell
Wow, this came out wrong:
“Guys I hope to god(other than the first 10 round guys) get signed, and soon:”
By that I mean all top 10 round guys better get signed no matter what and the other guys I want that aren’t the top 10 round guys.
From what I have found about Hage, he seems to have a lot of upside. He played a lot on the showcase circuit and seemed to perform quite well. I guess we will see.

Need to sign:
Russell
Todd
Kozma
The college pitchers aren’t terribly interesting to me outside of Todd. I like the Hage signing.
Adron Chambers brings a lot of baggage along with him. A highly drafted football player out of HS, Chambers attended Mississippi State. But Chambers was arrested by the University Police Department on a charge of attempted sexual battery this past October. The alleged assault occurred at a campus housing facility. The victim was another MSU student.
Chambers has no baggage or no more than any other fellow drafts. Let’s keep it moving…because we don’t know the situation…this has happen many times(some are true) and the allegations have been proven to be false, so let’s not stigmatize him before his chance up the bat.
