• Amaury Marti Watch

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.

Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

Daily Prospect Report 6/14/2007

I’m crazy busy right now — so apologies for not having some substantive content as of late. I’m taking 2 summer classes for 6 hours every Monday and Wednesday night in addition to working full time. I’m really determined to get this bleepin’ masters degree done by next year but it may kill me (that is if Kip Wells‘ starts don’t cause me to commit suicide first. ZING!). On to the minors.

Memphis 0, Nashville 4

  • Brendan Ryan went 2-for-4. His average is slowly creeping up. He’s hitting .259 on the season and .326 in the last 10 games.
  • Troy Cate had a successful outing. 5IP, 3 hits, 0 walks and 5 Ks while allowing 3 runs (2 earned). An improvement over late outings but he’s still just a reliever in the bigs.
  • The Redbirds were pretty much shut down. . . not a whole lot to see here.

Springfield 11, Wichita 2

  • Colby Rasmus went 1-for-4 but he hit a HR. Luke Hocheaver promptly plunked him the next at bat. This is what I found in my inbox tonight from erik on colby:

Hit a HR, the next at bat he gets beaned by Hochevar. What a putz.

  • Putz indeed erik, putz indeed. Good thing the Cardinals teed off on him including Rasmus’ sign of life.
  • Bryan Anderson went 3-for-4 with a walk.
  • Tyler Greene went 2-for-4 with a double and a HR.
  • Kevin Ool allowed 2 runs in 6 IP. . . and still sucked. He had 12 hits against him including 3 doubles. Don’t be fooled by the ERA for this game. Ool was still bad.
  • Michael Cooper mopped up 2 meaningless innings.

Palm Beach 0, Jupiter 4

  • First of all, I just discovered today that they stream a lot of minor league game audio for free over the internet. I’m going to try and start listening to more games at work. . . :)
  • Ryan Tucker dominated the PB Cardinals. D-O-M-I-N-A-T-E-D. 5 hits in 9 inning while striking out 5. Complete game shutout. Sigh.
  • Adam Daniels was pretty bad allowing 4 runs in 5 innings.
  • Matthew Trent (I think he and Scherer are the two most underated relievers in the whole system.) was the lone bright spot striking out 2 in 2 scoreless innings.

Quad Cities 5, Wisconsin 1

  • Brandon Buckman goes 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.
  • Jaime Landin went 2-for-3.
  • Luke Gorsett went 1-for-4 with a HR.
  • Brad Furnish threw 2-hit ball for 6 innings (just to spite me).
  • Tyler Herron struck out 4 in 3 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 unearned run.

  1. tyler greene is really doing everything but hit for average so far this year. he is hitting .245/.311/.454 through his first 216 at bats. sure he is always going to strike out a lot, but he is drawing some walks and he is hitting a ton of extra base hits. so far he has 17 doubles, 2 triples, and 8 homers. that is very good pop for a shortstop, and of course he has his speed as he has stolen 9 bases. i hated the pick when it was made, but greene could still turn out to be a decent everyday shortstop.

  2. To add to what FGC, Greene is leading the TEX League in LD% with 25%. Better yet he’s leading all of AA with that(min. 165 PA).
