Hat tip to whiteyball, Mark Hamilton moves up to AA Springfield. Per Booher at the Springfield News-Leader:
Mark Hamilton, a second-round supplemental pick from Tulane in June 2006, is in the Springfield Cardinals’ starting lineup tonight. [...] Hamilton, a left-handed bat, was hitting .290 with 13 home runs and 49 RBIs. He was recently voted to the Florida State League All-Star team.
Also moving up is Adam Daniels, who has seemed ready for a while this season. He’s posting a 60%+ groundball rate, fantastic control (4% BB rate) and 18% K rate:
The Cardinals also will call on former Oklahoma State pitcher Adam Daniels tonight. Daniels has pitched in Palm Beach all season.
Tyler Greene goes to the DL with a knee injury. This is something that could completely derail what little prospect status Greene had left depending on it’s severity. If he’s blown a ligament. . .well, I don’t want to think about that:
And in some discouraging news, the team placed shortstop Tyler Greene on the disabled list. [...] Greene, a first-round draft pick in 2005, has been money defenisvely this season. But he suffered a knee injury taking a swing Saturday night at Wichita and has not played since.
Not a whole lot to add to this news.

I’m actually a little disappointed by this. I finally gave up on Mike Ferris, and he’s got a 1.007 OPS in June. Oh well, there’s always the DH.
I’m not sure if this has been reported yet but Joe Mather is on the Memphis Roster.
well, if greene is in really bad shape, then maybe our new pick kozma (did he sign yet?) could speed through the farm even faster. maybe. hopefully. just looking at the positive aspects of our minor league ss situation.
FWIW, I was at the game last night here in Springfield and talked to a scout. Wouldn’t say who he was with, but he did confirm that he was a scout. He had a radar gun with him, and i didn’t see him use it until the 8th and ninth innings of the game. Before the rampant speculation begins, it’s worth noting that the Arkansas pitchers were looking good, so he could well have been there to get a look at Nick Adenhart too.
8th inning - Scherer
9th - Motte
from last nights game. they’re two underrated relievers doing well in AA. I’m not saying it means anything either but I’d love to know what they were being clocked at if the scout was clocking them.
I watched Mark Hamilton play Tues night and while he didn’t get a hit while I was there, he struck the ball hard, I like the sound of the ball off his bat. He seems to have the phsyique of an athlete. I’m looking forward to watching him play. He does have big shoes to fill at first.
Az,
those two could certainly make interesting parts to a trade. He was definitely clocking those guys as well as the AR pitchers. Of course, if i had a radar gun i’d be clocking everything in the place, including Team Louie!
