• Amaury Marti Watch

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.

Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

Maroth to the Cards

It’s official. Huzzah, another mediocre starter. That’s ok, it beats a mediocre reliever trying to be starter. That’s the good news, I suppose. The bad news is it cost the Cardinals a prospect, but I would venture to say it was a C level type talent. If that’s the case, I won’t be too upset. No, I don’t think it will be Joe Mather. I’ll keep you posted and have a reaction later.

  1. If they got him for a middle reliever, I’d be ok with that. Maroth is pitching in the DH league against better teams. He’s a better back of the rotation bet than Ohka and he’s not a FA until ‘09 i believe.

  2. Hooray, nothing like having more walks than strikeouts.

I seriously would have rather signed John Thomson who the Jays also recently released. (I think John is better than Tomo too.)

Because this is my stat I always use, Maroth’s xFIP the past few years:
    2007: 5.75 (awful) 78.3 IP
    2006: 5.48 (awful) 53.7 IP
    2005: 4.65 (acceptable) 209 IP
    2004: 5.01 (bad) 217 IP
