Just got home from the game. Colby home run first inning on a 1-2 count against a lefty. Craig well down swinging on offspeed pitches first 2 times up. Last 2 times up he hit the ball sharply right at ss and 2nd base. He was the DH. He might play again on Wednesday as the Wranglers are throwing another lefty. I heard they were waiting for Palm Beach to be out of the race before they moved somebody. The pitching was very good except for Sillman. He was down to his last batter with Motte ready in the pen. Good night for Springfield, the magic number for the second half is down to 4. I am looking forward to the playoff’s.

I didn’t think they were going to move Craig up to AA. Good for him.

I will be attending all 7 games and will be looking forward to watching Allen Craig. We will be able to use the DH in each game so he sould get some playing time. We are facing a lefty tonight so maybe he will be in the lineup.

No McKormick in AFL? What gives? He needs innings, his upside is too great to give up on this soon.

Per Kary Booher / Springfield News-Leader - Allen Craig has been moved up to Springfield to take the spot of injured 3B/1B Juan Richardson. Another strong bat added to Springfield for its playoff drive.

Mather isn’t going anywhere, he has 30 HR’s this season, they’ll resign him. In fact, how often do you hear about a guy going to AFL then being released or not returning. Not often.

Tdawg - My guess is that they are sending Mather to the AFL to get one last look so they can make a decision on whether to keep him or let him leave.

Since they were both promoted at the same time, Hamilton and Mather both have 227 AB’s with their new teams and both are hitting .256. Hamilton has 37 RBI while Mather has 29 RBI.

Does the fact that we are sending Mather to the AFL mean that he will not be allowed to leave via minor league free agency, or is the time for that decision later?
