As I’m sure many of you have already heard, the Cardinals have acquired the free-swinging Russ Branyan. As a member of the Three True Outcome cult, I kinda actually like it. Emphasis on the word kinda. Finding out the PTBNL for Maroth was Lambert was a relief, and a happy occasion. Waiting for the other shoe to fall on the Pineiro deal is making me a little anxious, and now here we go again. I can’t believe the Cards will be giving up much here, but it’s a month long rental and I have doubts he’s the difference between winning the Central or losing it. I know he has his detractors, he fans in 30% of his PA’s. Or he homers. Or he walks. To me, that’s a fun player but I’m also the guy who stumped pretty hard for the team to sign Kyle Russell. Despite him hitting for .198 batting average, he has a .265 EqA, .007 points higher then the guy he is replacing. I’d just assume have seen the team just promote Jarrett Hoffpauir, but that’s OK. As long as the PTBNL is another Lambert type, then it’s a decent move.
Yes, I am a bit of a prospect hound. It takes something to make something. Pineiro has worked out nicely, so I can’t complain much when ever the player is named later. Same thing should probably apply here.

Thanks for the update Erik!
I know that there was speculation about the Cards going after RB as a “more experienced” 3B over what we had on hand. I feel more comfortable with him over Miggie.
With Jocketty, Manno and Benes in Springfield last night I thought something might happen. Benes has been here all week. Also there have been at least 3 other scouts from other teams in town this week. Jocketty did say that Boggs pitched one of the better games he had seen this year according to the News-Leader. Boggs had more speed last night than his last few starts at home. He reached 97 several times on the stadium gun. I agree I like Branyan better than Cario.
