As the dog days of summer come to a close, the Daily Prospect Report dwindles in size. Unfortunately, the farm system goes 0-for-6 tonight.
- Mike McCoy went 2-for-5 as did Edgar Gonzalez who recorded a walk.
- Mike Ferris went 1-for-2 with a HR and a pair of walks.
- Brad Thompson threw 5 scoreless innings allowing 4 hits, 1 BB and 1 K.
- Hugo Castellanos blew up for 5 runs in 1.2 innings.
- Matt Ginter was playing for the Nashville Sounds. I missed the memo on his release. (not that I was really looking for the memo).
- Colby Rasmus went deep and drew a base on balls.
- Amaury Cazana Marti went 2-for-3 with a BB.
- Uncle Rico Washingon went 1-for-2 with a HR and a BB.
- Eric Haberer was roughed up for 6 runs in 4.1 innings. He’s walked 72 batters and struck out 72 batters in 152 innings this year.
- AJ Van Slyke went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a BB.
- Nathan Southard was perfect at the plate and went 3-for-3 with a BB.
- Tyler Norrick had a very good outing allowing just 2 runs in 6 innings. He struck out 8 against 9 hits and a BB.
Quad Cities 4, Beloit 6 (Game 1: 7 innings)
- Arnoldi Cruz went 2-for-3 with a double, HR and a walk.
- Daryl Jones still hasn’t put his prodigious tools together. He did earn a golden sombrero though.

- Tim Dorn went 2-for-4.
- Brandon Dickson was slapped around for 6 runs in 5 innings.
Quad Cities 3, Beloit 6 (Game 2: 7 innings)
- Arnoldi Cruz went 2-for-3 and drew a walk. Nice day for Mr. Cruz; maybe he’ll catch onto A-ball now.
- Christian Lopez went 2-for-3 with a double.
- Kenny Maiques had the rare blown save allowing 3 runs on a hit and a BB. He eventually struck out a third batter to end the inning but not before the defense saddled him with a loss.
- Justin Roberson, Charlie Pelt and Mateo Marquez all collected 2 hits.
- Nick Additon struck out 3 allowing just one hit in 2 innings of work.
- Clayton Long was the goat allowing 6 runs (4 earned) in 2.1 innings.

Nick Additon has got to be 1 of our guys to watch next year. He’s gonna be 20 at Low A, but the 6:1 K/BB this year is awesome
Colby Rasmus was twenty when this season started. who was the last kid that young to lead the Texas League in homers? I mean, does that happen often?
and can anybody give me a reading on Allen Craig’s defense? is it any good?
Additon has been impressive thus far but the jump between the short season and/or rookie leagues and A-ball is significant. That’s not to say he isn’t a nice prospect just that I’m waiting to see how he handles the jump.
Rasmus is an elite prospect so regardless of his gaudy HR totals he’s been quite fantastic. There isn’t anything more the Cardinals could really hope for at this point. That’s a good question for Chris Constancio over at First inning though. . .
what about Craig at third. can he field?
