Well, they had a nice run. Congrats to the Missions on winning the TLCS. Adam Daniels was probably not the best choice to start the game, but after the uninspiring performance of Mitch Boggs in game 1 I’m not sure it was the worst decision.
This is 2007’s final DPR, so it’s sorta sad not to leave it on a high note, but oh well.
- Adam Daniels lasted only an inning and a third, and allowed 7 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks.
- Jason Motte allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and a walk, striking out 2 while recording just two outs.
- They team made it interesting by scoring 7 runs in the 9th.
- Amaury Marti homered.
- Mark Hamilton went 2 for 2 with 2 walks.

Mark Hamilton and Bryan Anderson are very interesting cases for this team. They don’t have positions available at the big league level and they seem to be hitting their way in that direction. I hope we hold on to them both for one more year and they increase their respective trade values.
I still would have gone with Eric Haberer. At least, when he is bad, he keeps you in it most of the time.

Check out this bird land, Perez and Rasmus are both hitting team USA.
It’ll be great to see how they do on the international stage. It should be a great experience for the both of them. I’m also excited the Shorey gets the opportunity to go to the AFL. It should give him a chance to stand out in the crowded outfield the Cards will have next year. It should let the Cards know if he is ready for AAA next year. If so something will have to be done with either him or a couple of the other guys (Marti, Heather, Stavinoha, Skip).
Maybe Davey Johnson can help Perez with location and Perez can help out the pen next year so we don’t have to see the likes of some of the guys we threw out there this year. I really think Perez starts the year in St. Louis to be groomed by Izzy for one year and the Cards can pitch him in low risk situations early on and see how he reacts. I’m hoping this will give him the chance to get a little closer to being MLB ready. Gregerson needs to be in AAA closing anyway to see what we got with him.
In other news:
Lefthanded reliever Troy Cate is believed a probable waiver claim after the Cardinals designated him for assignment last Friday to make room for utility player Scott Spiezio on the 40-man roster. Cate worked 14 games for the Cardinals without a decision while compiling a 3.38 ERA and striking out 12 in 16 innings this season.

The way I read that is we might be trading/losing Cate here shortly (not sure how waivers for DFA work at this time of the year I assume we would just lose him but I am still uncertain).
