• Amaury Marti Watch

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.

Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

Daily Prospect Report 10/31/07

Bryan Anderson has a blog journal entry.

The Cardinals will play a pair of exhibition games in Springfield this coming year. . . I think I’m going to try and attend.

Mesa 7, Peo Javelinas 10

  • Jarrett Hoffpauir went 0-for-3 with a walk.  I said yesterday I thought that Hoffpauir could post an OBP of .370, which was me throwing out a number that I thought was reasonable without a whole lot of evidence behind it.  Looking at his MLEs from Springfield and Memphis, I’m pretty pleased with that number and definitely think he could post that kind of line.  He has a .400 OBP in AFL right now with 0 XBHs.

Team USA 5, Surprise 2

  • Colby Rasmus went 0-for-1 with a walk.
  • Bryan Anderson went 2-for-4.  He also got called for catcher interference.
  • Chris Perez appears to have been demoted from the closer’s role.  He was called into the 5th inning to retire a single batter.

  1. Holy $@#&. Anderson actually chose the question about Yadier to answer. And he didn’t waffle about it, no “well, he’s a great player, we’ll see what happens”, BS. Just no, I can’t play any other positions, so draw your own conclusions.

Kid’s got balls, I’ll give him that.

  2. Yeah, I am beginning to really like Anderson, as much as I already love Yadi.

Can you imagine the attitude in the clubhouse with Rasmus, Pujols, Anderson, (Yadi too maybe), people that want to play the game, play it hard, get it done. That attitude is what was missing from the 07 Cards and it is something I am seeing in our “kids” right now.

  3. As a more casual follower of the minors, is there anything to read into Perez’s struggles this fall? I knew command was a problem for him, but I was hoping to see him in SL sometime in ‘08. Is that less likely now?

  4. Struggles? He had one bad game and one “exciting” close to go with this last .1 IP outing. So far his line this fall is 2.0 IP 2H 5R 5ER 0HR 5BB 2SO. Command is the issue big time but we knew that. I am not reading anything from this just yet. Once they are in Taiwan then I will start reading more into him struggling. I also hope he isn’t working his arm too hard by even being on Team USA.

  5. I don’t think there is anything to read into his lines, yet.
It would have been nice to have him in the closer role to get him into some high-pressure situations. However, I agree with Hugo that let’s see what he does overseas.
Let’s get a larger sample size for the whole trip for Team USA and then we’ll make some judgements.

  6. Thanks. I had just heard the last couple of reports and didn’t realize quite how small the sample size was.
