For Team USA, Rasmus is 10 for 28 with 5 doubles, a HR, 2 steals and 6 walks. His overall line is .357/.471/.643. Very nice.

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.
Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

Beast.
I am going to cross my fingers and hope he gets a shot at the big club in spring next year. Zips seems to think he is ready.
He’s Chuck Norris good. Or maybe Chuck is Colby Rasmus good?
looks ready to me…
I really like the walks!!!!
It might have been better for him to play the fall league. It appears the level of competition would have been higher.
BJM,
I don’t think this was a question of competition or not. It was a question of pride I would say. If asked to go to the AFL or to represent Team USA which would you want? As an organization which would look better to you, your top prospect helping Team USA win games or some unknown team in Arizona?
Hugo-
No doubt, you send the kid to Team USA–it is a reward for the players and organization. I am just saying for development in the pure baseball skills sense, it would have been better to play the fall league. I doubt you could put a value on the experience of traveling the world to the development of the type of persons that Rasmus, Anderson, and Perez become. This type of intagible stuff has to be worth something that doesn’t show up on the stat sheet.
Exactly, and I don understand that maybe the AFL would be tougher, but I think Team USA is also just that good. I also wonder what the climate is like there and whether the balls are doing funky things, either way it isn’t like he is mashing HRs he is hitting solid doubles consistently. That is just an awesome statline even without HRs in it.
When Edmonds inevitably goes down in 08, Rasmus will get his chance and won’t ever see the minors again.
Anyone know what number Rasmus has been wearing during his ascent through the minors. I want to get either a Memphis (or maybe a StL) jersey with his number. Any help?
Rasmus wore #4 all year in Springfield. He is wearing #14 with Team USA. I noticed that Rick Eckstein is wearing #4 on Team USA. Bryan Anderson wore #8 all year in Springfield but is wearing #7 with Team USA. Reggie Smith is wearing #8. Rasmus signed almost all of his stuff in Springfield with the #4.
