Close race between Kozma and Craig, Craig is your #9. Who’s #10? This poll will last the weekend, and we’ll resume the 25 on Monday.

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.
Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

Kenny Maiques
I imagine most of you will consider it a little early for this guy, but I’m going with Hamilton. I think a lot of us underrate him a little bit due to the fact that he’s a 1B, and we know he probably won’t ever be playing that position in the bigs for us. Perhaps his value to us will come as a trade chip, but he should develop into a legitimate major league hitter, and he continued to show good plate discipline in the fall league.
10. Mark Hamilton
i’m also really tempted to pick hamilton, but i have to go with motte
hoffpauir
Hoff or Hamilton
Martinez.
kozma
Kozma
I’m going with Kenny Maiques, whom I have wanted to vote for the past couple of rounds but didn’t due to a lack of support for him. Here is my case:
The guy flat out dominated Quad Cities. He was named the Cardinals relief pitcher of the year for Quad Cities (no big shock), but the part that I liked was the quote about him by Scout.com “He is hands down the most amazing pitcher I’ve ever seen at this level.” When was the last time a quote like that was used to describe a Cardinals prospect? His ERA was an outstanding 1.53 while striking out more than a batter per inning and hitters only batted .183 on him. He possess the type of power pitching arsenal that we have been begging the Cards to draft more of: fastball in the 95 mph range and a nasty slider.
He holds great current value as a dominant value, but could possess a greater future value if he is able to make a successful transition to starter. The Cards brass may hold off since he has had injury trouble in the past, but if the Cards do decide to move him to SP he in my opinion would be a better prospect than 98% of our other starters. However, even if he doesn’t transition he has closer stuff and a closer mentality. Once he came into the game from Scout.com’s mouth “In the opponents dugout you could the other team slump every time Kenny took the mound.” I’m sorry but do you think that other teams slump every time guys like Motte, Boggs, etc. take the mound?
P.S. How do you not like a guy who’s name is pronounced My-Kiss.
Hoff
Hoff? In my opinion he isn’t really a prospect. A guy who is getting ready to be a backup middle infielder? He’s a top ten prospect? Not to me.
I’ll vote for Kozma, because shortstops are valuable. If he can become Jack Wilson I think he’s a much better prospect than Hoff.
His Hoff-ness
Kozma - I know a McCormick protest vote will get me nowhere!
man, kozma gets no love round here, always coming in second.
here’s my vote for the brides maid kozma
Eh, Maiques seems solid, but at age-22 in A ball, his stats were really good, but not terrific. If we’re talking relievers, I like Motte’s numbers at AA better - more dominant, and at a higher level of competition. Yes, Motte is older, but just in his 2nd year pitching. His scouting report is not too shabby, either.
Motte: 11.6K/9, 1.18 WHIP, 1.09 K/H+BB
Maiques:9.7K/9, 1.02 WHIP, 1.06K/H+BB
Motte basically strikes out more and walks more, but he’s so new that I figure he’s got a good shot at the refinements that will drop his walk rate.
I really can’t find anyone I’m happy with here. I’ll vote for Kozma. Hamilton’s to generic, I’m skeptical of the half-seasons that Mather/Hoff/Martinez put up, and the other pitchers with higher upside seem so far away (Todd/Kopp/Hooker/Furnish)…..
PJ Walters
walters hoffpauir or martinez?
I will take
WALTERS
Martinez but I’ll settle for Maiques.
Martinez. Kozma probably has more upside, but until be proves himself in pro ball it’s tough to vote him over a guy who’s only 21 with an outstanding half-season of AA under his belt.
Hoffpauir
Since someone questioned Hoff I will explain.
I don’t see a MIF utility as his top possibility I see it as a fairly reasonable possibility. To me that fact that I can almost guarantee that he will be a backup and he has the chance to be a starter makes him a prospect. Also he has shown me more then then Koz has, and yes it is just recently but I still like what he has shown. For that alone he beats Koz, I am also hesitant to rank pitchers but I think Motte will get my next vote after Hoff anyway. Martinez is solid right now but I am not completely sold just yet and Hoff just seems better to me, could be wrong but hey this is our opinions so.
Kozma for me. I would consider ranking Martinez here, but I think that Kozma likely has the potential for an edge in power production and SBs, maybe a little more range on defense (although I’ve heard numerous times how great defensively that Martinez is).
Kozma
Kozma.
Martinez
Walters.
I’m with Martinez here. I can’t argue that he has more long-term potential and value than Kozma.
He just has a longer track record — strong offensive performances in the Appy and Texas leagues, a decent showing in the Midwest League, and a poor showing in the FSL that didn’t prevent him from getting a promotion to AA at age 21.
I’m excited about the reports of Maiques’ dominance. But his track record is short, and the injury issue is huge.
I love Hoffpauir and hope he makes it, but his big breakout came in his second go-round at AA, at age 24. In 2006, at age 22-23, he hit .249/.345/.359 at Springfield. He was outhit by Shaun Boyd, Reid Gorecki, and Cody Haerther (who, granted, weren’t middle infielders).
Martinez seems to have potential for a trajectory similar to Polanco’s — contact hitter, good fielder, and value that increases with age and physical strength.
Kozma
Martinez
Martinez. Again.
i was just taking another look at the 2008 zips projections and found that they think mather would be a very good defender in right and hoffpaiur would be average at second. zips really doesn’t like ottavino or perez though.
Jose Martinez
Mather.
