• Amaury Marti Watch

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.

Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

I hope you all stuffed yourself with turkey, took in a college football game or two and avoided your crazy relatives as much as possible this past holiday weekend. The last vote was a two horse race, with Jarrett Hoffpauir getting the better of Kenny Maiques by a safe margin. I am wondering, where are all the Jason Motte fans? And why no love so far for Joe Mather and his 31 homers last season? Neither of those two have received many votes.

So let’s hear it- who’s #14?

  4. I have Mather right behind Hoffpauir on my personal list, but I have Maiques above Hoff.

    Maiques.

  5. Maiques

  8. oops, man I really can’t read (bonk myself over the head) Then Mather it is…..long weekend

  9. I’m throwing in with the Maiques contingent.

  15. Maiques!!!

  16. Motte.

  17. Hamilton

  18. I’m going with Maiques. I think I actually voted for him a few spots ago.

I think that Mather isn’t getting much love for a couple of reasons. He’s older for one, and after putting up huge numbers while repeating a level, he went right back to his career averages when he advanced to AAA. I think that a lot of us, (myself included) are looking at his numbers this season and thinking that they’re largely the result of a guy beating up on a level he’s old for and already seen. Hopefully, we’re wrong, but I think that’s why he’s being largely ignored.

  19. Shoot, accidentally posted before I was done.

I think that Motte isn’t as desirable as a guy like Maiques due, again, to his older age, and the fact that there is no reason to think that he’ll be anything but a reliever. The organisation is looking at trying Kenny as a starter next season, which would make him far more valuable. Motte looks to be a 7th inning/setup guy. He looks like he could be a very good one, but Maiques, at this point, just looks as if he’ll have a chance to move into a more demanding role.

  20. Maiques

  21. Maiques

  22. For the third time…Maiques. Once he gets placed on the list Motte will be next. Mather and Hamilton will get shots at the big time eventually but they’ll have to surprise once they get there a la Duncan. I don’t think their current accomplishments warrant top fifteen status.

  23. Mather

By the way on Mather this was his first time at the AA level. Also the last few weeks in AAA his power started coming around.

  25. I’ll take Motte, being closer to the bigs, over Maiques.
