• Amaury Marti Watch

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.

Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

First Inning continues to rock

fi.jpg

I love first inning, and it looks like it just got a little better. Now on the team pages on the right sidebar of the homepage, they have a team’s depth chart ordered by MLB ready prospects, near readies, and players two or more years away. It’s very preliminary and you’ll notice a few mistakes. (Victor Moreno?). It rates the hitters by their on base ability and pitchers by strikeout rate, walk rates and ground ball rates. I’m looking forward to the tweaks, but it’s a nice little handy dandy reference, and a quick and easy way to take a glance not only at what the Cardinals have coming up the pipeline, but other teams as well.

I also saw a request for profile of Steve Hill. I prefer to look closely at guys with track records, but I’ll put it in the hopper. May not be a full on “Prospect Profile”, though.

  1. that page makes our pitching look a heck of a lot better than our hitting; i think that’s a pretty accurate summary.

  2. TB’s caught my eye. “Major League Ready Relief Pitchers: Al Reyes”

I’d say he’s nearing MLB ready, considering he’s 37 years old.

  3. that makes our pitching in the low minors look a lot better especially in the pen.

  4. I’m not sure how they can make that screen operable without a lot of manual subjective input. It’s interesting though. . . . .

  5. again, it’s really preliminary. obviously. i thought about emailing chris with a few tips. i guess my initial impression was “cool” but then after looking it’s further there’s some kinks.
