• Amaury Marti Watch

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.

Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

Close vote again, with Hooker nudging out McClellan by a vote and Jon Edwards not far behind. I’m surprised by this vote. Hooker had a great debut in pro ball coming fresh from high school, but the reports on his mechanics have not been good.

Norrick, Nick Derba, David Kopp, Mark McCormick, Tyler Greene, Eddie Degerman and Steve Hill all received at least one vote. Some of those I agree with, but I wonder if some of you are even more enamored with early returns more then I. I guess the picture gets more muddled for everyone as we head towards the bottom. And whither Cody Haerther?

-Also, Derrick Goold has a fun parlor game over at Bird Land, the prospect SATs, which lboros at VEB and I participated in. I used some of your input from previous discussion. One of which was-

Allen Craig:Ty Wigginton:Garrett Atkins.

Meaning, Allen Craig is the next Ty Wigginton with the upside of Garrett Atkins. (Hat tip, fewgoodcards for the Atkins comp. Wigginton was my own.)

Or another was Chris Perez:Kyle Farnsworth:Brad Lidge.

Do your voting here for #21, and then head to Bird Land and play along there. We may have a post or two on that later, or play that little game here at VEB on a cold January day sometime.

  2. McClellan. I’m tired of standing on principal, McCormick’s not going to go higher than McClellan anyway so I can’t just let the guy slip.

  8. Going on small-sample-size performance and considerable upside, I think D’Marcus Ingram is at least our 21st-best prospect.

  23. still like tony cruz but will sacrifice vote for Steve Hill

  24. Derba still gets my vote based on his arm. BA ranked it the best out of all minor league catchers, AND he can hit…

  25. mcclellan

  26. Tyler Greene.
I think he his overlooked because of his injury this year.

  27. McCormick - It’s a testament to the Cards system that there is nobody really pushing Worrell. He’d be ranked in the top 10 back in 04…
