We all know about Ankiel's health record... Do you think it’s at all possible that Rasmus would be FORCED onto the team due to an injury by Ankiel or Duncan. Jupiter is only about 45 minutes from me. I'm excited to watch Rasmus this spring. I saw him briefly last year, but he only got a handful of at-bats. I'm sure he'll get plenty of playing time this spring. I live in South Florida, and am heading to camp to watch the workouts on Wednesday. Jupiter is only about 45 minutes from me.

The Cardinals are willing to go over slot at times (Henley, Zawacki) but I don't think we are going to see them do it in the first round. I remain skeptical of a $4M+ signing that would reel in a big fish. erik - I waffled on that Goold quote. Many things could happen to force a change of plans: he has a Pujolsian camp (and wouldn't that be sweet), a couple of the guys ahead of him get injured (less sweet), Ank looks like he can't handle center, an enticing trade comes along that packages outfielder(s) and maybe Reyes for middle-infield upgrades, and so on. One of the things that I really like about CR is that his star shines more brightly compared to his peers every year. Three years ago, he was considered only about the 20th best 18-year-old out there, if I understand the Lederer article correctly. He's rocketed past almost all of that peer group. This says to me that then man is developing at a tremendous rate that should continue for a while. If, 5 years from now, the trend has continued and he's the #1 26-year-old out there, we're going to be a bunch of happy campers. If he has anything but a Ruthian (Bondsian? Pujolsian?) spring, he'll be down in AAA.
