That’s a rather unimpressive bullpen. Still think they should have skipped Maiques to AA especially if they do that piggyback rotation in Palm Beach.
I’ll start. Why is 25-year-old Adam Daniels, he of the 5.94 Springfield ERA last year, in the rotation instead of 23-year-old Cory Rauschenberger, who had a very good second half last year if I’m not mistaken?
In the Birdhouse the Rot is Garcia, Ott, Mort,Walt, Dan
What happened to the MO State guy that was supposed to make it in the bullpen? Zimmerman…
Hey Erik,
Booher has Zimmerman listed between Salas and Zuercher.
He is, and i thought I typed him in but I guess I didn’t. Thanks. As for Daniels, he’s probably just a placeholder. Tyler Norrick has been sore and he’s behind. Once he’s ready, he’ll probably replace Daniels.
Shouldn’t Mark Shorey be in that outfield?
No worries. Kind of glad I will be out of town instead of fighting for tickets to the Springfield games. Rain is a possibility for one, and the tickets sold out in 12 minutes or something crazy. 10K people in that stadium will be a blast, however
Mark Shorey has had a rotten spring. He’ll either be back in PB, extended spring or just plain cut.
I was hoping Scherer would get promoted to AAA.
That rotation looks excellent.
i think shorey is a little dinged up. he is staying in extended i believe.
Garcia should be in the big league bullpen.
Any ideas as to who will start tonight for Springfield? If Garcia does he may be the best pitcher on the field tonight.
garcia starts tonight, walters will start tomorrow.
RE: FGC
Woohoo!!! I’ll be there for both games, and I’ve really wanted to see both of these guys. I’d offer to give back my opinion, but it would be pretty useless, as I’m no scout!
That’s a really nice rotation Springfield has. Bullpen looks a little iffy, though. I agree with Az; Maiques should have been skipped up if the org isn’t going to try him as a starter.
On the position side, I’m going to be watching that MI tandem very closely this year. That’s an intriguing twosome, particularly if Greene can stay healthy.
NO rain tonight just temp in 40’s at game time in Springfield. Shorey is hurt and stayed in Florida. Looking forward to another fun year here in Springfield. I also am looking forward to the Greene-Martinez combo. The bullpen will be hard to match the McClellan-7th,Motte-8th, Perez-9th we had last year, but the starters should be much better. Not suprised about Haerther still here. I think he needs to show he can stay healthy and improve on his defense. Well the gate opens at 5 with the big starting BP just after better head to the stadium. Looking forward to the 2 games this weekend.
DCGreg - I think I’m the only one with any remaining faith in Daniels but I think he could pan out as a servicable reliever. I think any distinctions made between him and Rauschenberger are minor at best. Rauschenberger got destroyed early on — neither of them project as starters in the big leagues but I’d take Daniels just because he’s a southpaw.
I can’t help but wonder how many of these players will move up to AAA this year. I personally am hoping Garcia, Martinez, Anderson, Mortensen, and Jay make the jump.
I can’t wait to see P.J.s line against the big club. I hope he impresses. He doesn’t walk guys so maybe Albert will take him deep a few times.
