Aaron Crow may never allow a run again, and Buster Posey was an extra base hit machine this weekend. A big name makes his first appearance, and the rest of this week’s top performers all inside this week’s wrap-up. It kind of looks a mess, but I don’t have the new format completely figured out yet.

Any chance the Rays go with a pitcher first overall or are they going to stick with a position player after taking Price next year? Seems like some of these pitchers are moving themselves up the draft board.
i actually projected them to take aaron crow in the mock i put up a week or two ago, and i wouldn’t be surprised at all if they took a pitcher. i have heard they may not be willing to take alvarez with longoria and pena around, but who knows. tim beckham would be an intriguing possibility, but it could be hard to pass on crow or matusz.
That’s what I’ve been thinking. I’m firmly in the “draft the best player available” camp but the Rays are stacked with pitching right now throughout their organization.
I was at the game watching Crow when he pitched, he is the most dominant pitcher I have ever seen at the college level. I’m gonna have to ask one of my students who is on the team to set up an interview with him, in case you’re interested.
balkroth–we’d be extremely intersted. you could publish it here, as a guest piece, if you like.
what happened with scheppers, is he hurt? and i’d have to say i used to kinda like the idea of drafting shooter, now i think i’d pull my hair out if they take him. too many silly walks.
If the Rays draft Crow in a few years they will have a wicked starting rotation if they can hold onto Kazmir and Garza…
Erik, If you could field some questions that you’d like to ask, or do a community free for all and pick questions from that I’d love to do it. I know it’s short notice but it pretty much needs done in the next 2 weeks.
fresno state didn’t play this weekend, so scheppers didn’t pitch. that may be why they played around with the rotation to get him 2 starts last week.
Red Blazer,
Don’t forget Price and Shields as well…
Kazmir/Price/Crow/Shields/Garza is a heck of a 1-5, and I know I’m forgetting some of their major prospects on the farm.
