I'll head over after work and get my first look at Ingram. Their opponent is the Blue Jays' affiliate and has Kevin Ahrens, Justin Jackson, and John Tolisano on their team. I'll write a few thoughts tonight after the game... The River Bandits game tonight is being played here in Iowa City. I’ll head over after work and get my first look at Ingram. My take is that each pitcher needs to be handled individually. I don't think all pitchers should be subject to the same pitch count. Look guys like Maddux, Dice K, and Livan Hernandez have rubber arms and can just throw all day, where as some guys just have arm issues and fatigue easier. I don't think pitchers should be held to 100 pitch counts if they are capable of throwing 125-130 pitches it's stupid and it stops their development. However if a guy can only handle 80 pitches I think it's stupid to extend them. The issue is many of these young guys 21-23 is the average AA age? Lots have been born into the era of pitch counts when growing up and they have yet to really develope complete arm stamina. Who knows it's always a tough call when dealing with the human body, it just breaks down for no reason from time to time. Pitch Count- Seems to be a lot of discussiong about this as of late. They piggyback through QC and PB and then are allowed to throw up to 120 pitches in Springfield and Memphis. I start to get a little concerned when the MLB pitchers are throwing 120 much less some 21 year old prospect. I may just sit on the fence on this one for a bit. I want to throw it under the bus but it's obviously something the front office believes in right now. If prospects start going down after several consecutive high pitch count games. . . well, my pitchfork & torch is always handy. I don’t know what to make of this pitching system. If it is true that it recommends an _average_ of no more than 105 pitches, then Miller's proposed system is in complete agreement. 120 pitches for three games and no more than 100 for the forth game averages out to 105. I am not familiar with the pitcher abuse point system and am not defending it or miller, just saying that there is no discrepency.
