i would go with friedrich or alonso.

this is the last update for hicks on pgcrosschecker’s hot list. it came way back on april 9th.

.523 BA (23 for 44)with 7 doubles, a triple, and 2 home runs. Also 1.84 ERA in 5 starts on the mound.

Curious where would you personally go if G. Beckham, Scheppers, or Hunt are gone? Also, do you know what/where Hicks’ stats are, I can’t find them anywhere.

he is also very raw on the hill. i saw him pitch in the aflac game last year, and while he had great stuff, he couldn’t find the plate if you gave him a map.

Yeah, but if he doesn’t succeed at hitting, which I also have my doubts like you, he can always pitch. On PG top 50 they made the Dwight Gooden comparison, which is quite the compliment. On BA last “Ask BA” Callis said he would rate Hicks as a mid-first as both a position player and pitcher and rated him above Martin and Kelly in both pitching and hitting. If my two favorite guys in G. Beckham and Scheppers are gone, and I fully expect them to be, I think I want Hicks there.

Shhh, i just don’t think he is going to hit. sure he has great tools, but if he can’t get on base he can’t use them. the cardinals also don’t have a track record of developing these kind of players.

i agree on wallace. if he can play 3rd, he is a great pick at 13.

Brett Wallace is also said to be the best pure hitter in the draft, hitting for both power and average. Not to mention the fact, is pretty good at stealing bases too. I wish there was something clearcut on his ability to play 3b. If he can, gotta be the 13th pick.

I’ve watched Brett Wallace play 3b all season for Arizona State, soft hands, strong arm he’s made all the plays. What the scouts problem projecting him at third base in the majors?

we need starters, we don’t need any more righty relievers. then pen sucks and perez and motte can’t get a look. why do we need to stack up even more guys behind them?

I really like Schlereth, but Cole St. Clair’s arm action scares me. I think I would avoid him.

I also really like Ryan Perry as a power arm for the ‘pen, but I’m not sure he fits for the Cardinals this draft.
